Just like in text translation, Glossary and Prompt Control for speech translation give you a way to shape both the accuracy and style of live, real-time translations. These tools ensure that even in fast-moving spoken conversations, your terminology remains consistent and your tone is appropriate for the audience.

📚 Glossary for Speech Translation

A glossary in speech translation works exactly like it does for text — but here, it influences both captions and voice output in real time.

Typical uses

  • Ensuring organisation names, product terms, or technical jargon are translated consistently
  • Keeping certain terms in the source language (e.g. brand names, acronyms)
  • Avoiding mistranslations of sensitive or culturally specific words

How to Use

  • Create or upload your glossary in the Glossaries section of your dashboard. See how to create and edit a glossary here.
  • Select the glossary when setting up your In-Person, Video Call, or Broadcast session.
  • The glossary will be applied instantly during the live translation process.

✍️ Prompt Control for Speech Translation (Coming Soon)

Prompt Control allows you to influence how speech translations are phrased in real time. While the system focuses on accuracy and speed, prompts help set the desired tone and register.

Typical uses

  • Ensuring a formal tone for official meetings
  • Keeping language approachable and friendly for public outreach
  • Emphasising clarity for instructional or safety-related speech

How to Use

In the session setup screen, enter your instructions in the Prompt field. Examples:

  • “Maintain a formal register appropriate for a legal hearing”
  • “Use simple, clear language for a community safety briefing”
  • “Retain all medical terms in English while translating the rest”

Save prompts in session templates for future use.

🧩 Combined Usage

When used together, glossaries ensure your key terms are always correct, while prompts fine-tune delivery and tone. This combination is especially valuable in broadcast or high-stakes situations where every word matters.
