3. Glossary and Prompt Control for Text Translation
Enhance text translations with Glossary & Prompt Control. Ensure brand consistency, correct terminology, and fine-tuned tone across all projects.
Glossary and Prompt Control are advanced tools that give you greater influence over how translations are generated. They ensure your translations are not just accurate, but consistent with your brand, industry terminology, and desired tone of voice.
📚 Glossary
A glossary is a set of predefined terms and their preferred translations. When a glossary is applied, the system will always use your specified translation for those terms — regardless of context.
Typical uses
- Ensuring product names remain unchanged
- Maintaining consistency in legal or technical terms
- Enforcing standard translations for brand slogans
How to Use
- Create or upload a glossary in the Glossaries section of your dashboard. See how to create and edit a glossary here.
- Include the source term, target translation, and optional notes.
- Apply the glossary when running a translation, either manually or via a template.
✍️ Prompt Control (Coming Soon)
Prompt Control lets you guide the AI’s translation style, tone, and context. You can specify how you want the translation to sound or what it should prioritise.
Typical uses
- Making text more formal or informal
- Adjusting tone for customer service vs. marketing
- Preserving nuance in creative writing
How to Use
In the translation interface, add your instructions in the Prompt field. Examples:
- “Translate this as a formal business email”
- “Keep the tone friendly and approachable for a public announcement”
- “Ensure all technical terms are preserved in English”
Save prompts in templates for repeated use.
🧩 Combined Usage
Glossaries and prompts can be used together — the glossary ensures term accuracy, while the prompt shapes tone and style. This is especially useful when working with content that must be both technically precise and audience-friendly.
